| FDA Revises Label Warnings On The Antibiotic Ketek |
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has revised the label warnings on the antibiotic Ketek, to improve safe use by patients. Ketek is the brand name of Telithromycin and is manufactured by Sanofi-Aventis.The FDA has removed approval of the drug for treatment of acute bacterial infections associated with sinusitis and chronic bronchitis.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced revisions to the labeling for the antibiotic Ketek (telithromycin) designed to improve the safe use of Ketek by patients. The changes include the removal of two of the three previously approved indications - acute bacterial sinusitis and acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis - from the drug's label.

| FDA Requests Boxed Warning For Contrast Agents Used To Improve MRI Images |
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has asked manufacturers to include a new boxed warning on the product labeling of all gadolinium-based contrast agents which are used to enhance the quality of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The requested warning would state that patients with severe kidney insufficiency who receive gadolinium-based agents are at risk for developing a debilitating, and a potentially fatal disease known as nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF).
