Triphasil is one of a group of drugs called Oral Contraceptives, and are used to prevent pregnancy when taken properly. Triphasil contains two types of hormones, estrogens and progestins, and stop a woman’s egg from developing fully.
Be sure to tell your doctor of any allergies you have whether it is to medication or food, preservatives, or dyes. Tell your doctor immediately if you are, or become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Also, tell your doctor of any other medications you are taking, including vitamins and supplements, and any medical conditions you may have.
Avoid tobacco products when taking this medicine, as it severely increases the chance of side effects.
It is very important that you take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you to. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. It is okay to take two pills in one day. If you miss more than one dose, contact your doctor immediately, and follow his instructions exactly.
Healthy women who do not smoke cigarettes have almost no chance of having a severe side effect from taking oral contraceptives.
21 pink active tablets each containing 0.10 mg of levonorgestrel, d(-)-13b-ethyl-17a-ethinyl- 17b- hydroxygon-4-en-3-one, a totally synthetic progestogen, and 0.02 mg of ethinyl estradiol, 17a-ethinyl-1,3,5(10)-estratriene-3, 17b-diol. The inactive ingredients present are cellulose, hypromellose, iron oxide, lactose, magnesium stearate, polacrilin potassium, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, and wax E. 7 light-green inert tablets, each containing cellulose, FD&C blue no. 1, hypromellose, iron oxide, lactose, magnesium stearate, polacrilin potassium, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, and wax E.
