Lotrisone, a combination of Clotrimazole and Betamethasone is used to treat fungus infections. Clotrimazole works by killing the fungus or preventing its growth. Betamethasone, a corticosteroid, is used to help relieve redness, swelling, itching, and other discomfort of fungus infections. Clotrimazole and Betamethasone cream is applied to the skin to treat: athlete's foot; jock itch; and ringworm of the body.

Be sure to tell your doctor of any allergies you have whether it is to medication or food, preservatives, or dyes. Tell your doctor immediately if you are, or become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Also, tell your doctor of any other medications you are taking, including vitamins and supplements, and any medical conditions you may have.

It is very important that you take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you to. Do not take more or less medicine than directed, and never stop taking Lotrisone without discussing it with your doctor first.

If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do NOT double doses.

Tell your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur: numbness of the hands and feet; rash; secondary infection; swelling; blistering, burning, itching, peeling, dryness, redness, or other signs of skin irritation not present before use of this medicine; hives; or stinging.

LOTRISONE Cream contains a combination of clotrimazole, USP, a synthetic antifungal agent, and betamethasone dipropionate, USP, a synthetic corticosteroid, for dermatologic use. Chemicaliy, clotrimazole is 1-(a-Chloro, a, a-diphenylbenzyl) imid-azole, with the empirical formula C22H17ClN2 and a molecular weight of 344.8. Clotrimazole is an odorless, white crystalline powder, insoluble in water and soluble in ethanol. Betamethasone dipropionate has the chemical name 9-Fluoro-1,16,17,21-trihydroxy-16B-methylpregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione 17,21-dipropionate, with the empirical formula C28H37FO7 and a molecular weight of 504.6. Betamethasone dipropionate is a white to creamy white, odorless crystalline powder, insoluble in water. Each gram of LOTRISONE Cream contains 10.0 mg clotrimazole, USP and 0.64 mg betamethasone dipropionate, USP (equivalent to 0.5 mg betamethasone), in a hydrophilic emollient cream consisting of purified water, mineral oil, white petrolatum, cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth-30, propylene glycol, sodium phosphate monobasic, and phosphoric acid; benzyl alcohol as preservative.
