Fioricet, a combination of Butalbital, Acetaminophen, and Caffeine, is a pain reliever and relaxant used to treat tension headaches. Butalbital belongs to the group of medicines called barbiturates that act in the Central Nervous System (CNS) to produce their effects.
Be sure to tell your doctor of any allergies you have whether it is to medication or food, preservatives, or dyes. Tell your doctor immediately if you are, or become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, as Fioricet may adversely affect your baby. Also, tell your doctor of any other medications you are taking, including vitamins and supplements, and any medical conditions you may have.
Avoid alcohol when taking this medicine.
It is very important that you take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you to. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do NOT double doses.
See your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur, particularly if several of them occur together: bleeding or crusting sores on lips; chest pain; fever with or without chills; hive-like swellings on eyelids, face, lips, and/or tongue; muscle cramps or pain; red, thickened, or scaly skin; shortness of breath, troubled breathing, tightness in chest, or wheezing; skin rash, itching, or hives; sores, ulcers, or painful white spots in mouth; or sore throat.

Acetaminophen: (4’-hydroxyacetanilide), is a non- opiate, non-salicylate analgesic and antipyretic. It has the following molecular formula: C8H9NO2 with molecular weight 151.16. Caffeine: (1 ,3,7- trimethylxanthine), is a central nervous system stimulant. It has the following molecular formula: C8H10N4O2 with molecular weight 194.19.
